Velvet Lust

I know that it is still Summer, and technically velvet is a Winter wonder, but I can't help but being drawn to this plush fabric in decor. Velvet brings an instant element of coziness paired with chic--something that you can never go wrong with! I am literally obsessed with the navy velvet headboard in the first picture, coupled with the silk tie-die pillows and throw. With the curtains layered behind the headboard and the mirrored side-table, I have literally died and gone to bedroom heaven. Wow.

I am officially on the hunt for a velvet arm chair, pillow, or headboard...velvet is a definite must!

Red and Gold Drama

I have always been infatuated by this classic color combo, so naturally I had to post these two gorgeous pics. How stunning is the bedroom with the fiery red throw against the exquisite white bed. Not to mention, I am adoring that bed-frame!

I anticipate red lips and gold nails in the near future...tomorrow perhaps?

A Historic Home's New-World Charm

Designer Ted Tuttle’s renovated Colonial home in Centralia, Washington, has an exquisite mix of modern furnishings paired with delicate antiques, including a daybed by Mies van der Rohe and wood stumps from Pottery Barn. The room has the perfect mix of formality while still containing an airy and relaxing element--something tricky to accomplish.

I never would have thought to do wicker chairs in this formal dining room, but due to the shape and black shade, the chairs actually work perfectly paired with the dining table and oak floors.

The bedroom, like the rest of the house, has the perfect mix of old world and new, elegant without being overly stuffy. In fact, the room is incredibly soothing while still adding fun elements like pops of cheetah prints paired with the old-world dresser and blue vase.

I have always been a sucker for all-white bathrooms, with of course an attached dressing room.

Overall, my favorite aspect of the re-design is how Ted Tuttle kept the integrity of the old-world character of the home, while still maintaining a sense of fabulous freshness and memorability.

A Friday Full Of House Envy

Velvet, tie-dye curtains and beautiful blue pattern galore! I seriously almost fell out of my chair when I found this absolutely stunning and simply chic living room and home from here and here. How gorgeous are those velvet chevron print chairs??

I also love how the kitchen above still seamlessly flows from the rest of the house, with it's dark gray wallpaper and violet chairs.
And now the dining room. This has to be one of the most fabulous dining areas that I have seen. I love how the Moroccan inspired chairs pop in the room, perfectly contrasting the navy walls and mahogany modern dining table. Not to mention--that chandelier!! I have died and gone to dining room heaven!
And after a night of fine dining and entertaining, what better place to curl up than this extremely soothing monochromatic taupe bedroom full of texture and drama!

Outdoor Spaces--Just in time for the 4th!

Summer is here! Well, it's been here for awhile now, but it sure hasn't felt like it here in the Bay Area. The heat has been off and on, not to mention it rained the last two days. Such a buzz-kill!

However, it is finally warm and gorgeous--just in time for the 4th! Although I will be gone in Playa del Carmen for the holiday and next week, what better way to greet the warm weather and spirit of the holiday weekend than with stunning outdoor spaces?

Here are some of my favorite designs..the third is from the brilliant designs by Amber Interiors. She has a perfectly eclectic and bohemian design aesthetic which makes you feel as though you are always on vacation.

Cheers to celebrations and the beautiful outdoors!

Sunset Entertaining

Summer is emblematic of outdoor lounging, patio parties and sunset-dining. I can't think of anything more pleasant than spending a Sunday outside sipping on an iced tea as I flip through my latest magazine.

I hope you get to enjoy beautiful weather and quality time outside on this Thursday!

Where Keri Russell finds Zen

I will admit, my head is still in the clouds of tranquility from this weekend. Keri Russell's exquisite and calming home in Brooklyn perfectly exudes my current state of mind. Hopefully I will be able to maintain this peaceful mind state during this week!

Happy Monday everyone, and I hope you find your place of zen and calm today...

Back to the Office!

Well, Monday has rolled around once again! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend with much time to relax and take time for yourselves. Thankfully, I am back to my perky self again (I was quite sick in bed for about a week, so I apologize for being a tad MIA!) Anyways, I am excited to have all my energy back in full force and I am finding incredible inspiration in surrounding myself this week with beauty and creativity, especially in my work surroundings.

Not many of us have fetching offices to work in like these, but why can't we try to make our work spaces as gorgeous and independently representative as we can, always with a touch of glam! Even something as little as buying your fave fresh flowers and placing them on your desk will be an instant pick me up. Personally, I am in the process of re-doing my work area in my apartment, since (I'm sure you guessed it) I am at my desk and computer quite a bit for my job. For me, simplicity is key, so my goal this week is to clear out unwanted papers and add a three by three black and white prints above my desk, with fresh peonies and a fabulous new chair that I reupholstered in a tan cheetah print. Pictures are sure to come soon!

Have a fabulous Monday everyone and make sure to add something that makes you smile in your work surroundings--it is sure to brighten your day!

Sweet Simplicity

I hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! When I came across the first beautiful image on the wonderful blog Bright.Bazaar, I knew that I had to post it today! It truly epitomizes my Memorial Weekend.

My weekend was exactly what I needed: perfectly simple. I took a million naps, did a little shopping, had a dear friend (from the incredible blog The-Margaret-Files) over for a delicious dinner and talked until all hours, caught up on my Elle Decor and watched a couple movies with my boyfriend. It was low-key, relaxing and absolutely perfect.

What did you all do? I hope you had time to rejuvenate! Enjoy your Tuesday everyone...xo

House of the Week

I actually had a different post lined up for today, but when I saw this house decorated by the extremely talented Suzanne Kasler, I thought DONE. I just love the southern sophistication and elegance that she brings, without being overly stuffy or serious. Everything about this house I adore--I love how it's sophisticated grandeur seems effortlessly comfortable and inviting, especially with the pops of vibrant artwork. Sigh. When can I move in?!

A bright Monday with Orange + Pink!

Although there is nothing new about this color combo, I felt that we needed a breath of brightness and color on this rather wet and rainy Monday. Yes, it is still raining here in the Bay Area and is likely to for the next week, so expect an array of bright and colorful posts in the next couple of days to keep our spirits lively! xo

Dining Room Heaven...

There is something just so perfect about this dining room. It has to be the soft gray walls bordered by elegant moldings, high ceilings, and the perfectly beautiful chandelier, coupled with the white and gold mod chairs and modern white table. The exquisite gold candelabras and gold eighteenth century French mirror doesn't hurt either! I am always looking for the perfect combination of traditional and modern, and here it is! Dining room heaven.
